Gündogan out for at least another month
BVB playmaker Ilkay Gündogan will need at least another month to recover from his back injury. Last season's shooting star had been suffering from a stress reaction in his lumbar vertebra for some time. It got worse, when he played for the Nationalmannschaft against Paraguay. BVB CEO Watzke was not happy with Gündogan's decision to start in the international friendly even though he had been suffering from back ache and had to leave the pitch in the season opener at Augsburg after an hour. At first it was reported, that Gündogan might return to team training after a week, but after examining Günogan's back today, BVB-Doc Braun concluded that the midfielder needs additional recovery time.
Gündogan will miss at least the Bundesliga matches at Frankfurt, against Hamburg and at Nuremberg as well as the opening match of the Champions League. This could mean a huge blow to Borussia's ambition, because despite keeping a clean sheet so far it became obvious that the team is missing Gündogan's technical and strategical skills badly.
Get well soon, Ilkay!
