It’s not always the games that count: The “week of truth” in review

As Borussia Dortmund supporters, we all have personal memories and stories that form a deep, emotional connection with our club. Whether it’s a thrilling victory of a national or international title or a devastating loss, let alone the near-death experience in the late ‘90s. More importantly, there are the small things, like the the smell of a “Schnitzelbrötchen”, the sound of the subway leaving for the “Westfalenstadion” or one of the countless rituals we go through before every game. For me, and I’m sure for countless others, the so-called “week of truth” was such a memorable experience. And it was so much more than just three very important games. It combined the Thrill of an unlikely victory in Munich, the bitter-sweet loss during a fantastic trip to the Arsenal and the exhilarating win over our rival in the Derby with a very personal but yet familiar homecoming story.

Phoenix from the ashes

How often has this wonderful fairytale bird been adduced when somewhere something old has been renewed. Phoenix is said to be pure because all his failures are burnt with him and is therefore used and abused so often for so many things. But very rarely has the saying „risen as Phoenix from the ashes" been as true as it is for the new German football champion Borussia Dortmund.

U.S.-Supporter Sean: How a tattooed guy turned the BVB season around

A few seasons ago I finally joined the rest of the world in having cable tv. It was the only way I could enjoy watching soccer(football) matches. I have been a supporter of this wonderful sport since the late 70's/early 80's when I started to play. Cable tv gave me a chance to watch the English Premier League and by far my favorite League the Bundesliga.

Paris - Belgium - Dortmund and back

Hello BVB-fans,

I would like to describe what happened to me on the 27st of november 2010. As you might know, Dortmund played against Borussia Mönchengladbach that day and it turned out to be one of the most emotional and memorable days of my life. Let’s start from the beginning. I was lucky enough to buy two tickets for this game a couple of weeks earlier and I was really excited (as always), because I cannot often go to our dear Westfalenstadion to see the mighty Borussia play, since I’m a student who lives in Belgium. Everything was planned and nothing could go wrong, because my friend was able to borrow his father’s car in order for us to drive to Dortmund.
