Football Factory at Legends, New York-The heart of football in the heart of the city

Fanscarves in the Legends pubMaybe, some of you remember my report about New York having been published on schwatzgelb.com one year ago, regarding the football bar Nevada Smith’s.
A visit of this football bar last year was really worthwhile, because we (my wife Cornelia, my brother-in-law Wolfgang and me) had the opportunity to watch the 2:0 win of BVB against Nuremberg live. Furthermore we met a Japanese girl, named Chikako, a BVB supporter as well as a great Shinji Kagawa Fan.

Abbey Road - Walk like the Beatles competition before the Arsenal match

There is a big week coming about a day away.  First we take Munich, then we take London. Borussia Dortmund supporters recently stormed the Arsenal General Sale, bought tickets for the Emirates – it left the AFC Ticket office clueless. All they could do, was to relocate BVB supporters to another block. All they could offer was: No away colours, please! There are ways to work around it: Why not buy the The Unity BVB hat at a yet to be announced meeting point before the match? And why not join the schwatzgelb-Photo-cómpetition at Abbey Road before the big match.

Living Borussia down under

With our personal Twitter channel (@schwatzgelb_com), it is easy to communicate with football fans around the world, especially with fans from our beloved Borussia. That's how we got in contact with four fans from down under, Australia. This is the story of Matt (@mattlmorris), Ben (@BennyONeill), Beatrice (@footballgidget) and Steven (@Gixibyte). Via e-mail, we talked to them about several things, including their passion to Borussia, how they manage to be informed about our club so many miles away, what do they think about our Australian goalkeeper and how they would evaluate both the Australian and the German football league.

Mallorca and Borussia – a perfect combination! The perfect day Vol. 2

Maybe you have read Ida’s report “The perfect day – for many reasons” about our glorious victory against Bayern. Borussia’s fantastic 3:1 after 20 years without a win in Munich is one of many heights during this season. Here’s a small addition to that great Saturday evening. It’s our short story how 5 Dortmund supporters experienced the match live on TV in Mallorca. For us it’s an additional reason why this day was really the perfect day!

Facebook and BVB

Only a few weeks ago the latest shooting star entered Facebook. Felix Magath, the under pressure Gelsenkirchen autocrat, started his account and within minutes had some 6.000 likes under his belly. As of today he storms towards the 140.000 likes sign and has already left traces on the network. He posted a couple of dead funny videos on how he suffers in the coaching zone, explained why Jurado after some 8 months in Germany still needs to adjust to Bundesliga rhythm and announced that he had been on radio.

Our derbyweekend - Mika from Finland

It was an early morning for us as we started our trip from Turku to Helsinki-Vantaa airport at 04.45 o'clock. It was going to be me and two other BVB-fans from Turku who were going to take the trip. One BVB-fan was going to come from Frankfurt where he is temporarily as an exchange-student. It takes about 1,5-2 hours to get by car to the airport so we had lots of time before our flight departed (08.10'clock). Our first flight was going to be to the Berlin Tegel-airport and from there we would fly to the Düsseldorf-airport. The flights and the 2 hour waiting time in Berlin went pretty smoothly, especially when you take into account that one of our fans has a small fear of flying.

A great tour where only one thing was missing - THE GOAL!

The 100 year anniversary against Freiburg from over a year ago was my last game in the stadium and I think you will excuse me for that since family comes first. I wanted to go to more games but somehow there was always something getting in between and so I had to stay at home. This derby however, I had announced very early and this time it should work out for me to be able to go to the Westfalenstadium again.

First sg.com meeting of the international BVB supporters - see the worldwide mob foto

Before the derby schwatzgelb.com's Steph called our international followers and die hard Borussia supporters from abroad to meet before the match in the beergarden at Borussia's old ground the Rote Erde. This tradition-steeped environment provided the perfect location to smell the pre-derby atmosphere and meet up for a chat, some fan-beverages and the traditional stadium sausage.

A letter from the US

Dear schwatzgelb.com,
My name is Jake Vertin and I am almost 17 years old. I live near San Francisco, California. And like all of you, I love Borussia Dortmund. My mom is from Dortmund (Sölderholz) and for as long as I can remember, I've been a BVB fan.
Before moving to California, I lived in Atlanta, Georgia, where I attended the Atlanta International School and studied German for five years, from kindergarten to 3rd grade. It was during these years that I became a BVB supporter. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, Fox Soccer Channel would broadcast bundesliga matches.
