Doll replaces Röber
In the end it took less than 24 hours. After Borussia’s horrible match in Bochum, which was lost 0-2, Jürgen Röber already looked like he was willing to quit.While his interviews weren’t convincing at all, there was even a rumoured scandal behind the scenes, when assistant coach Bernd Storck yelled direction goalie Roman Weidenfeller: “another player without balls”. On Monday finally Röber quit and so the search for a new coach started again. While during last winter, when we wanted von Heesen, who was still in Bielefeld contracted, and legend Ottmar Hitzfeld, we had to do with 3rd option Röber, this time again our number 1 choices, von Heesen and Magath, didn’t wanted to take over the sinking ship. Again BVB’s search for a new coach looked a little bit like panic and so it took only 24 hours to introduce Thomas Doll to the public.
Thomas Doll? Yes, exactly the coach who was fired in Hamburg, because the club from Northern Germany was in immediate danger of relegation. And he is the answer of our relegation battle? To Watzke’s excuse, it is not that easy to get a top coach during the season, and so he was welcomed in Dortmund.
Thomas Doll will bring his assistant coaches Zumdick and Teuber with him, while goal keeping coach Teddy de Beer will stay with Borussia.
