§1 Name, Based in and Colours of the club:
The ‘Ballspielvereins Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund’, founded at the 19th of December 1909, is based in Dortmund and is registered in the club list of the lower district court in Dortmund.
The colours of the club are black and yellow.
This first paragraph is taken from the statute of Borussia Dortmund, version from the 26th of February 2006. The entire statute consists of 17 paragraphs. It is the foundation and the regulation for the club and its members.
The last sentence in paragraph one is pretty clear. There is no room for argumentation and discussions. The colours are black and yellow, full stop!
Now take a close look at the new jerseys from Borussia Dortmund for the season 2006-2007!
The jerseys main colours are white and yellow. It has a black collar and at the end of the sleeves a black fitting. In the center of the jersey it has a green background box, a yellow exclamation mark and fancy, colourful (white, yellow, black, red) dot. This should be the place holder for the new sponsor logo from RAG (blue and white company colours) which will be issued around autumn.
This jersey has been the subject for a lot of hot discussions within the BVB supporter groups.
The statements are going from: Nice, trendy shirt all the way to rubbish and misuses of traditional values!

schwatzgelb.com pointed out, that ‘the line of border - Borussia Dortmund Not for sale’ will be reached individual for every BVB supporter.
From my point of view a football club like Borussia Dortmund consists of four key elements.
The club name:
The name of the club is still ‘Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund’. Short version for example: BVB 1909. There are enough examples in football were club names have been changed due to financial and marketing purposes. One example is Red Bull Salzburg. So far a name change of Dortmund has not been in the minds of the responsible people, or?!
The club logo:
The club logo goes hand in hand with the club name. If the name of the club would be changed, then the logo would be changed also.
The club colours:
The club colours are black and yellow.
The colours of the club are displayed everywhere in public. You can find them on jerseys, on flags, on stickers, on the stadium, the statute is written in black and yellow, and so on…
We had a first, huge impact to these rules when Signal-Iduna became the sponsor of the WESTFALENSTADION. The company colours of Signal Iduna are blue and white, and so is there logo. So now Borussia had to place this logo on the stadium and renamed it to SIGNAL-IDUNA-PARK.
The commercial inside of the stadium is following this approach. Every time the main sponsor is running a campaign you see those colours (blue and white and other colours)!
Well, one could say the sky is also blue and white, and make other unnecessary comparisons. But this is not the point. Of course in our day to day life we have all kinds of colours surrounding us. Borussia’s football ground, which is the home of the squad and their supporters, should not be dominated by other colours!
Now we have this new official club shirt for the new bundesliga season. One main colour of the shirt is white; the other one is the green box. Could you imagine 25.000 people standing on the south stand with those shirts? What will be the message? Are we now yellow-white-green and a little bit black? How will the new logo of RAG be? Will we get some blue also? That would fit nicely to the white!
To be honest, there was only one reason for the management of Borussia to agree to this design and it is purely down to money and the new sponsors marketing interest!
So after the name of the stadium we are selling out on another key element of Borussia Dortmund!
The club history and tradition:
The club history and tradition consists of two major parts. First there is the history of the games Borussia played and their squad members. This can not be changed in the history books!
The second part is what belongs to Borussia Dortmund, the buildings, the places history was and will be made. This was already changed by selling the stadium name.
Nobody can tell the individual Borussia Dortmund supporter if the line of border is reached from him or not or if this line is already crossed.
But looking at the strong support which was always the backbone of this wonderful football club, the management of Borussia should not underestimate the wave of resistance!
