My lord, how disgusting!
It could have been a wonderful afternoon. The weather was lovely; you were in a good mood on the way to the local Pub, which was going to show the game on the pay TV channel. So, half an hour before the game the first beer and sandwich – good preparation is always important. A nice seat just in the right direction and more and more BVB supporters entered the bar.
The game was only one (In words: ONE) minute old when you could see BVB eyes, which disbelieved what they just saw.
It was Schneider, by the way a player in the international squad, who managed to miss the open goal with a header from just 5 meters away.....must have been the one – nil for the chemical club from Leverkusen.
OK, Borussia battled back in the first minutes of the game, it was not too bad what they showed in the beginning.
But then came the goals, the first one in the sixth minute, the second one after a superb counter attack in the twenty-second minute. Borussia tried to find a way back into the game, but they did not find the right path. So, the first half was over and the BVB fans were left, shocked – in kind of a unreal trauma.
Michael Meier, Borussia’s Manager looked not very happy during the half time interview and he made no clear statements if players were going to be sold or what was going to happen with them, especially Frings. You were wondering if the truth this day was really on the pitch or somewhere else.
But still there were 45 minutes to go and after a few beers in the halftime interval hope was back. Only till the 54 minute, when Leverkusen converted a more than doubtful penalty into three – nothing. After that Borussia’s squad broke apart. We could have lost easily four, five or six – nil, what an appalling performance by the team! That was basically the Saturday afternoon. It was a nightmare! Leverkusen’s players were better in every single position. You never had the feeling that Borussia could win something besides the golden coconut. I’m not sure what the player’s understanding of football is, but this was not the international class team Borussia have on its payroll. Don’t fool ourselves here. Every player on the pitch is a good player. Most of them are international players, who will play for their team in this year EM 2004 in Portugal. I’m not sure what their self-esteem is, but no one deserved the call into an international squad that afternoon.
Also, please stop all the rubbish regarding coach Sammer. He has called 11 top players in the squad. Players who have a big mouth if they don’t play, or if they have to play in the second team. Players that are still paid a lot of money at Borussia, but are not capable of giving a solid performance on the pitch. We are not angry about the defeat. You can be defeated in Leverkusen, they are a good team, no doubt about that. But you would have expected a better performance from Borussia, especially after the Bayern Munich game.
So, we have four games to go. We still are one point behind Bochum, in the race for the fifth position, which would mean direct UEFC Cup qualification. Please WAKE UP NOW!! The dream is over since the Cottbus game when we missed the direct qualification for the champions league. Since then the squad has not delivered on their duty, which still is, with these kind of players – international football! Borussia is in a very critical situation right now. If you miss the UEFA Cup qualification you will miss a lot of guaranteed money and maybe worse, your season will start early due to the UI Cup games.
The team has 4 games to play and the BVB supporters are expecting nothing less than 12 points. That has nothing to do with pressure or anything else. All the four teams that we have to play are normally not in the same class as Borussia, we have two home and two away games. The biggest problem will be that three of the four teams are playing to stay in the Bundesliga, so they will fight with their lives to keep the points. Borussia needs from now on the same fighting spirit!
So, go out onto the pitch and do your duty for the club, the fans and for yourself!
You’ll never walk alone!!
