BVB eye Kristiansen
As schwatzgelb.de got to know Borussia Dortmund seems to be interested in signing young Danish talent Jan Kristiansen. The midfielder has been on the scouting list since long. Finally it seems that BVB is preparing a 1,5 Mio Euro bid to bring Kristiansen to the Strobleallee.22-year old Jan Kristiansen, at the moment contracted with Esbjerg fB, is a versatile player that can play defensive and central midfield plus on both wings and even started in some matches as left-back. So Kristiansen would give coach Matthias Sammer some new options if key player of BVB’s current squad should leave this summer. He shoots well with both feet and in 127 matches (before the actual season) he scored 27 goals (18 out of these during last season!). This season he already scored 6 times. Maybe Jan would help BVB in building up a much more dangerous midfield. Of the current players only Frings has a nice looking goal record.
Kristiansen is a technically sound player and tough to get the ball from. Seen as a “nice” guy helps off the pitch but on the pitch he sometimes lacks commanding. Having a good eye for the game and not being stupid makes him a promising player for a key position in any team.
Another weakness is a bit lack of speed which is still enough for the Danish league but maybe not for the Bundesliga. On this topic he would have to work with special training.
Kristiansen played several matches for Denmark’s youth team and finally debuted in February 2003 for the A-National team. Against Egypt he was substituted for the last 15 minutes but had no major impact.
If Rosicky and/or Frings leave this summer, Kristiansen could fill the gap....not immediatelly but in the long run. Today BVB scouts (along with ManU scouts) attended Esbjerg's match against AGF Aarhus which ended as a 3-3 draw with Kristiansen scoring a goal. Along with the own scouts' opinion BVB asked Flemming Povlsen about this player.
