BVB against SV „Fisherman´s Friend“

Now we know where does Bremen take their yersey colours and their statement too: 'Are they too strong, you are too weak'. That's exactly how BVB was thinking before this game. Because Werder Bremen was leader of the Bundesliga and not such a good visitor for Borussia. They lost only one game at home last season and it was: Yes you're right Werder Bremen!

It's not easy to be a Fan of BVB in these weeks. Nearly everyday there's a shocking news for you. The missed CL qualification, the big injury list and the money discussion around the team would be enough but there was another shocking news for Borussians at friday before the game and immediately after it: Marcio Amoroso, Dortmund's topscorer got a knee-injury on thursday's training session and will miss at least till November. Right after the game there were rumours of an heavy knee injury for Fernandez. But at this moment it seems as if he will miss 'only' for 3-4 weeks.
Before kickoff there was a lot of suspicion about how the fans would react after the 'you and your money'-discussion in the media and if the fans would whistle against some of their players. But Southstand (The wall with 25.000 BVB-Fans on it) react in cheering every single name of our team loudly at warm-up time.

Back to the game. Kehl gave his season start in Bundesliga, after his ban in the League-Cup Final against Hambourg when he had thrown the referee down. Fernandez replaced Madouni on the right wing. Borussia had a brilliant start but couldn't create clear goal opportunities.
Rosicky made a lot of noise in middlefield and so the Werder fisherman's friends Ernst and Stalteri tried to calm him down with a lot of rude attacks on the Czech playmaker. Ernst got as a reward a yellow card, but Ref Wagner should sent him off after several fouls, but he hadn't the courage to do it.
As the audience started to get a little bit sleeply, Ewerthon score the first goal and awaked the stadium. After a good pass by Addo, Ewerthon entered the box, blamed a few Bremen defenders and hit the ball into the net, 1-0 Borussia!

BVB made one of their favourite mistakes and tried to control the game and defend their lead instead of trying to score another one. Only a few minutes before halftime they got punished for this attitude. Ismael could easily pass BVB defensive middlefield, gave the ball to Lisztes and the Hungarian equalized with a fantastic lob over Weidenfeller, who saw the ball too late, 1-1.
Reina replaced the injured Fernandez at halftime but could not show why he's still in the squad of BVB. It's absolutly a mystery why Billy gets one chance after the other without success while our youngsters from the Amateur team like Odonkor, Senesie or brilliant Gambino aren't brought in.

Both teams tried now too score the second goal and so the speed of the game increased. Bremen was better as BVB in opening the game and in changing from defense to offense. Weidenfeller had to clear another dangerous lob by Lisztes before the scene of this 5th matchday in Bundesliga.

Bremen defender Krstalijc was in possesion of the ball when he let Koller without a reacton rob the ball and directly pass to Rosicky. The young Czech served Ewerthon right at the penalty point. Ewerthon's shot was send by Bremen goalie Reinke against the bar. The ball jumped back into the field where Frank Baumann tried to clear it with his head. But he passed the ball straight onto the head of his colleague Ismael who passed it directly into the goal. 2-1, for Dortmund!
Now everyone was laughing about this goal and thinking about April 2003 where Weidenfeller was called idiot after a goal scored by Ernst right from the middle of the pitch. This was footballgod's revenge.

At the end BVB was fearing the Bremen equalizer when Bergdölmo had to clear just in front of Charisteas for a corner and the fans were praying for the end of the match and finally they got it. Referee Wagner finished the game and so Dortmund could notice a three-pointer onto their point account.
It wasn't a brilliant victory for Borussia but after the passing weeks with BVB into the headlines of the media, it was an important one to calm down the atmosphere in the area of the club. They have to survive the next weeks and months till the team got back some main figures like Metzelder, Conceicao and of course Amoroso. But if BVB gets many more injured players then you have to say good bye to the goals like championship in Bundesliga and finals in FA and Uefa Cup.
A last word to the audience: The new record of 80.500 is fantastic, but only the number is. You will only get a fantastic athmosphere when BVB is leading 5-0 and dominating the opponent. Welcome to the biggest opera in Bundesliga.
