Introducing Fernández

Juan Ramon Fernández was born on 3 May 1980 in Gualeguaychú. In Argentina he has a reputation of being a reliable, simple and likeable guy who, however, defenitely hasn't got it in him to become a team's key player. But since this is his first move abroad, his successful inegration is now the thing to focus on before that step anyway.

Juan Ramon Fernández was born on 3 May 1980 in Gualeguaychú. But since this is his first move abroad, his successful inegration is now the thing to focus on before that step anyway.
Fernández constantly was a first team regular in the Argentinian youth national sides and was thus without question regarded as one of the top prodigies in Argentina. Accordingly, among other clubs Manchester United was interested in signing him a few years ago. After 90 appearances in the first division (the stated figures, by the way, vary between 70 and 90 appearances) he has by now become an established part of Argentinian topflight football. The things that once had been said about his future career have only partially become true, though. This is perhaps to be put down to his not always being able to maintain a consistent standard of performance. But you should take into consideration that at 22 he is still very young and especially Sammer is known for helping his players a lot regarding constancy of performance.
Fernández can be played on the right wing (preferably!) as well as on the left wing. Furthermore, as a part of a back-four he can be played at right-back or left-back, or he can play just as well at a position a little further up front in midfield. It's known that Sammer rates such features particularly highly.
He had been through a good tactical education and combines a fine footballing brain with the approach of a genuine team player. His other strenghs are his crosses, his pace and his technique. In his career in topflight football so far, though, he has scored only one single goal. This isn't exactly a sign of great efficiency. He doesn't fire off shots at the goal too often anyway, which makes you draw the conclusion that his self-confidence is not unshakeable. All in all, he has many strenghts but doesn't always know how to use them to the full. However, he certainly has not reached yet the end of his development. So, there's no coach that would do him better now than Sammer.
