Dortmund will meet Greuther Fuerth in cup semifinal

Borussia Dortmund got the seemingly easy draw for the semifinal of the national cup (DFB Pokal) this weekend. Out of the three remaining opponents Bayern, Gladbach and Fuerth, our BVB got the 2nd Bundesliga fraonconian's from SpVgg Greuther Fuerth.  Gladbach and Bayern will subsequently battle it out in a 1970's retro-match. Our young guns will travel to Nuremberg's twin-city Fuerth, which is about a 4h drive from our beloved Dortmund, on March 20th (Tuesday). The game will be broadcast live both on public television ZDF and pay-tv SKY which should mazimize your chances to catch some footage.

Our Borussia had a fair amount of luck this cup season, not meeting a single 1st Bundesliga club in the first four rounds of the competition. After 3rd Bundesliga club Sandhausen in round one, it was Dresden and Duesseldorf from the 2nd Bundesliga until the quarter-final brought 4th league's Holstein Kiel. Our opponent Fuerth has not been so lucky, making the advance to the semifinal the more impressive. After amateur club Eimsbuettel in round one and fellow 2nd Bundesliga club Paderborn in round two, Greuther Fuerth had to compete with both Nuremberg and Hoffenheim in the subsequent rounds, beating both.

While the cup always brings excitement and otherwise unlikely opponents, for us supporters the draw is far from ideal. The arena in Fuerth only holds 15,000 and there will be again only a small number of tickets for visiting supporters. Combined with a 4h trip on a weekday night it will be a tough case to make for all but the most resilient supporters.

he could crevnot to Islam if that would mean wealthy Arabs can complete a takeover of PAOK.Tino Economou is an AEK fan who spends most of his time in his basement rewriting his beloved club?s history using the latest version of EA Sports? FIFA video game. He has great fun drubbing rivals Olympiacos and Panathinaikos in addition to overcoming lower-tier sides in remakes of the Greek Cup of the mid-2000s. In Tino?s virtual utopia, AEK never loses; and how can they when he switches to play as the opponent and pulls out the opposing ?keeper just far enough for Liberopoulos and co. to find the back of the net -- quite regularly at the stroke of full-time.
