Kuba and Lewandowski on Fire
For the concluding EM-qualifier of the German national team on Tuesday in Düsseldorf against Belgium, national coach Joachim Lew rested jewel Mario Goetze. The player of Borussia Dortmund, who showed a promising performance during the 3-1 victory against Turkey on Friday, already left his national side on Sunday and traveled back to Dortmund. According to Loew, he wants to accomodate Borussia with this action – against the backdrop of the upcoming match against Bremen on Friday - not a bad idea! While Ilkay Guendogan replaced Goetze in the German squad and debuted against Belgium, as far as we know his ambition, Mats Hummels was not satisfied with the operating time Jogi Loew gave him on the pitch. In the clash with Turkey on Friday, Per Mertesacker took the place of Hummels in the central defence next to Holger Badstuber – as things turned out he acted in exactly the same unreliable way he did during his visit with Arsenal London in Dortmund. Nevertheless Joachim Loew gathered his wits and gave Mats 90 minutes of football yesterday evening. Unsurprisingly he had a good evening with only one fault against the young Didier Drogba – Roman Lukaku.
But I will not give away the ending yet, only the hint that Kuba and Lewandowski are on fire. Here is an overview:
Jakub Blaszczykowski, Robert Lewandowski and Lukasz Piszczek
South Korea 2 – 2 Poland (29' 1-1 Lewandowski, 83' Blaszczykowski 2-2)
Poland 2 – 0 Belarus (31' 1-0 Blaszczykowski, 69' Lewandowski 2-0, Piszczek played for 90min)
Mario Goetze, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Guendogan
Turkey 1 – 3 Germany (66' 0-2 Müller assisted by Goetze)
Germany 3 – 1 Belgium (Hummels played for 90min, Guendogan debuted at the end of the match)
Neven Subotic
Serbia 1 – 1 Italy (Subotic played for 90min)
Slovenia 1 – 0 Serbia (Subotic played for 90min)
Ivan Perisic
Greece 2 – 0 Croatia (Perisic was put in in minute 52)
Croatia 2 – 0 Latvia (no informations yet)
Shinji Kagawa
Japan 1 – 0 Vietnam (no informations about the performance of Kagawa yet)
Japan 8 – 0 (two goals by Kagawa Shinji)
Marc Hornschuh, Moritz Leitner and Ilkay Guendogan
Germany 3 – 0 Bosnia-Herzegovina
San Marino 0 – 8 (20' 0-3 Leitner)
Polish skipper Jakub Blaszczykowski and his fellow Borussians are qualified for the European Championship 2012 because of their host status. The German players around Mats Hummels have reached the final round in Poland and Ukraine in a memorable manner – ten wins out of ten matches! Neven Subotic and Serbia are only spectators when the EM starts. Croatian Ivan Perisic needs to go through a last qualification match before the final tournament can be reached. Our Japanese Kagawa Shinji and Japan are on the best way to Brazil 2014 – it will only be a question of time until the qualification will be finished. Congratulations to all Black and Yellows who are going to represent their homeland in summer 2012 and keep smiling to those of our players who will only be able to watch the matches in front of their television.
