Kehl and Götze will miss twice, big transfer offer said to be denied
After Mario Götze was send off the pitch against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday, he will miss the two upcoming matches against Hertha BSC Berlin and Hannover 96 due to the red card he was awarded by referee Wolfgang Stark for assaulting Hanno Balitsch. At least, that is what Mario is accused of. For spitting at the pitch - which was ruled out as a try to spit at Balitsch ridiculously enough - Götze has to pay a penalty of 10.000€. Skipper Sebastian Kehl will be out with Götze as well. He pushed the fourth official at the end of the game because he did not get any opportunity to be brought in as a substitute over the last five minutes of the goalless tie. The sentences can be discussed at a high level, however, both Borussia Dortmund and the players accepted the penalties. Let's leave it with that.
Another important news of today is a kind of rumor going around in German media. Borussia's Champions League opponent Arsenal London FC is said to have offered BVB 40 million € as a transfer fee for Mario Götze some weeks ago. However, Borussia denied the request and decided not to let Götze leave even though it would have been the highest transfer fee for a Borussian ever in the history of the seven-time Championship winner. "We are no apprenticeship club. This kind of club trains his players in order to sell them at high costs whenever a possibilty is coming up. We want to get the harvest on our own", manager Hans-Joachim Watzke is quoted. The rumor is still to be confirmed but it is a kind of strange coincidence that this offer comes up after some weeks especially after Borussia was drawn to play Arsenal in this year's Champions League.
