Owomoyela close to team training

Right defender Patrick Owomoyela is close to returning to team training after four months of injury. After he suffered a torn sinew in his hip before the match in Mönchengladbach during the championship season, he had a hard time fighting back. "I could not imagine to ever kick a ball again", Owo is quoted in German newspaper "Ruhr Nachrichten". Owomoyela had to witness most of the season and stood on the pitch for Borussia only six times. From the tribune, he saw Lukasz Piszczek stepping in for him and taking a great part in Borussia winning the championship. However, if Piszczek will be banned to compete for Borussia like we reported earlier this week, Owomoyela could once again become an important part of the team. Nowadays, Owomoyela is doing some little running and ball training with his physical therapist and is estimating himself to be at 90 per cent. "Now its about making it to 100 per cent." His goal is to make it to team training this month: "And I am optimistic to do so. I want to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. However, playing Bundesliga competition next week would definitely be too early."
