Kein Zwanni campaign with a big success BVB will no longer charge away fans extra at top matches
The Kein Zwanni campaign has achieved a new success. Borussia Dortmund will no longer charge supplementary fees for away supporters. Still this does only concern standing tickets and the away fans buying seats will still be charged extra at top matches.
We at schwatzgelb.com strongly support the “Kein Zwanni” campaign for affordable tickets and translated the official statement of the campaigners for you:
Role model for Bundesliga: No more supplementary entrance fees for standing tickets for away fans at Westfalenstadion Dortmund
A new success for „Kein Zwanni – Fußball muss bezahlbar sein“ (no 20 € football has to be affordable): Borussia Dortmund will no longer charge supplementary fees for guest standing tickets at top matches. With that the management of BVB under leadership of Hans-Joachim Watzke supports the struggle fort he future of football in Germany, because it is the supporters, who provide an appropriate setting for the sport.
Supporters as for example the HSV fans from Hamburg, who, even when their team was 3:0 down, continued to barrack for their team at the season opening match against Borussia, are a big part of the appeal of the league. Fans from 199 countries were able to witness live, how unique the atmosphere in Germany’s top league really is. But especially those supporters that follow their team on the road, carry a huge financial burden due to cost of travelling and ticket prices and should not be charged supplementary at so called top matches. This long-sighted step by BVB will prevent scenarios like the 34rd matchday of last season: Then, the Eintracht Frankfurt supporters were charged a supplementary fee and had to witness their team’s relegation and the celebration of Borussia’s championship.
It is good to see that the Bundesliga clubs start to recognize, how important fair pricing is for the future of our sport. We hope that more clubs will follow the example set by BVB, to keep the Bundesliga the league with the best atmosphere in the grounds throughout Europe. Football has to be kept one of the last institutions that unites all social classes.
Unfortunately the waiver of additional charges by BVB regards only the standing tickets and not the seats. The initiative „Kein Zwanni“ is explicitly not just about the prices for standing tickets. We will not cease to fight for further improvements. Still the decision by BVB marks a big success.
We hope that the action of BVB will have a pilot function for the Bundesliga and that other clubs will follow the example shortly. It is never too late to act!
Football has to be affordable!
