The curse of the left back
Injury #3. To be a left back for Borussia Dortmund is no fun these days. After Schmelzer and Dede both checked into the sick bay, Polish international Lukas Piszczek replaced them as left back in yesterday's 2-1 (Kagawa & Barrios scored) win over Dynamo Dresden. He however could not stay away from the muscle fibre rupture curse. He will miss ten days of pre-season training, after having missed much of the boot camp already due to a minor injury. Bad luck for the former Hertha Berlin player. Currently also not fit to play are Santana (knee) and Langerak (shoulder), they however should be back just in time for the Manchester City game next week.
Pre-sales for that match have been bad so far. Westline inquired on how many tickets have already been sold yesterday. 20.000! The answer.
No news on a possible Valdez transfer, who missed the Dresden match as he "needs to train to be fit again". Both Barrios and Valdez joined pre-season on Monday and seem to have neglected parts of their fitness plans for the summer break. We will know more about the state they are in fter a lactate test held on Saturday. The Paraguyan internationals might also be called up for a test match vs Costa Rica the week leading up to the Burghausen DFB-Pokal match. If called up all looks set for Lewandowski to play the lonesome striker up front. He was tested on that position yesterday with Kagawa taking over the middle position.
Getting closer to the start! Exciting times
