BVB Idol Teddy de Beer talks about his extended contract and the BVB keepers

BVB dinosaur and fan idol Wolfgang "Teddy" de Beer, coach of our goalkeepers,  on the two year extension of his contract and the season preparation with a new Australian keeper and a Ball from outer space.

On Mitch Langerak: Mitch seems to be at ease when he is on the pitch. He is well awake, takes part in the match a lot and is very explosive. He is all araound a well trained keeper, but there are some things, that we will still have to work on. Mitch´s overall package fits.
On the keepers for next season: Roman Weidefeller is an established Bundesliga keeper and with 30 years in his best age. That is why we wanted to bring a young talented keeper in to build up behind him. So Roman will be our number one for next season, Mitch Langerak his substitute and Johannes Focher our number three. I am very confident with these keepers for the next season, because I have seen a lot of good things in training.
On the new Bundesliga ball "Torfabrik": This ball makes it difficult not only for goalkeepers but the other players as well, especially after long passes. If this ball has to fly over some distance and the shot was not too hard, it tends to change direction abruptly.  When you think you have it almost safely in your hands, it falls down or drifts sideways and starts to flutter. That is a problem.
On his new contract: We have a lot of ambition for the next two years. In the last years under Jürgen Klopp things kept improving and now we have reached the fifth place and want to play the Europa League. I want to be part of this ongoing development to establish BVB among the top teams and maybe even win a title. In 2011 I will have my 25th anniversary at BVB and that is a beatiful and unusual thing in the football business.
