Bundesliga takes a break - 14 BVB Stars on the road

Due to the international match calendar, the Bundesliga has to take a break with just 2 matchdays played. The exciting start of the season has to come to a halt, to make room for international friendlies and qualifiers. The timing is debatable, but these matches have to be played and there is no date FIFA could set for them, that would cause unanimous applause by coaches and management of clubs or the interested public.

But even though no official matches are scheduled for Borussia this weekend, some BVB players have been called on national duty. The development of the young BVB squad has been recognized by national team managers all over the world, so Jürgen Klopp has to relinquish a total of 14 players. That makes it difficult to use the given time for purposive team training.

Here´s a list of all the Borussia Dortmund stars on the road and what they are up against with their national teams:

Jakub Blaszczykowski, Robert Lewandowski and Lukasz Piszczek play two international friendlies with Poland against Ukraine on 4th in Lodsz and against Australia on the 7th in Krakow. BVB goalie Mitch Langerak has not been nominated for the Australia squad, but is on standby in case there are any problems with another Aussie keeper.

Lucas Barrios can share a flight with Shinji Kagawa to Tokyo, where Paraguay take on Japan in a friendly on the 4th. Three days later Barrios and his team play China at Nanjing and Japan with Kagawa face Guatemala in Osaka.

Dimitar Rangelov from Bulgaria travels with his team to England and on the 7th faces Montenegro at Sofia. It seems doubtful, if we see "Dietmar" in black´n´yellow again, as he is linked with Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv and the tranfer window is still open down there.

Tamás Hajnal, who did not find a club willing to pay his BVB wages, plays with Hungary in the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Sweden in Stockholm and against Moldova in Budapest.

Nuri Sahin also plays in the Euro 2012 qualifiers with Turkey against Kazakhstan in Astana and against Belgium in Istanbul.

Neven Subotic plays two qualifiers with Serbia on the Faroe Islands and at home in Belgrade against Slovenia.

The German U21 already wasted their chance to qualify for the U21 Euro so the remaining three qualifiers will be used to rebuild the team for the future. That´s why BVB talents Mario Götze, Marc Hornschuh and Lasse Sobiech were nominated for the games against Czech Republic and Northern Ireland and the established starters like Hummels, Bender and Schmelzer were left out of the squad. Daniel Ginczek and Marco Stiepermann are playing with the German U20 team over the weekend.

Let´s hope that everybody returns unharmed and in good shape from travelling the world. The latest news from Poland seem optimistic. Robert Lewandowski could already train with his team mates again today. He obviously did not break his foot after being attacked by BVB team mate Piszczek in training.
